Charlotte Jackson And The Magic Blanket

Charlotte Jackson and The Magic Blanket marks Dr. A.I. Jackson's debut as an author and illustrator.

The Magic Blanket tales began as stories his eldest daughter, Charlotte, told when she was three to try and delay bedtime a little while longer. Asked by Charlotte during 2020’s COVID-19 pandemic if they could be written up into books. Dad got to work! Learning to draw was tough. Learning to write tougher …

In the tall thin house at the top of the hill, it is an evening like any other. But when Charlotte Jackson wakes later that night to find the Baby Lara gone, stolen, apparently, by the mysterious Treasure Island Monkeys, she faces a choice. Little does Charlotte realise her decision will take her on an adventure beyond her home to the edge of the Northern Wilderness, and then on to a place she never knew existed where she will face an enemy more villainous and treacherous than she could ever have imagined.

.

Charlotte Jackson and the Magic Blanket is a magical adventure for a time when what’s imagined and dreamed is still as important and powerful as everyday life.

A single gunshot wound to the head.

But is it self-murder or something more sinister?

Critical reaction to The Mystery of the Cambridge Bow

‘Working with ideas that the late-Victorians were wrestling with: the rise of sport and leisure time; what it meant in terms of class/country; and the Boat Race as being an event of national importance at the time; and the perennial question of why rowers row … The Northern One of the brilliant Broken Oars Podcast [has produced] a story worth many readers.’
