Songs for Separation is Aaron Jackson’s first release as ConChie since 2020’s critically-acclaimed debut Northumbria.

Recorded in late-2023 on a quarter-inch TEAC reel-to-reel four track and released for review on 31st March 2024, the emotional immediacy, melodic gifts and apparent simplicity of Song’s For Separation’s seven tracks unfold, on listening, to an album of depth, complexity and consideration.

The album is only available to order from The Landing Stage website as part of a limited edition run of 40 CDs. There will never be any more, and it will never be released via digital platforms (because platforms don’t pay makers).

‘Recorded on analogue 4-track but sounding anything but lo-fi, this is an album, as footie pundits might say, of two halves. [Side One’s] six tracks [are] emotionally direct [and] richly melodic … while Side Two’s Home For Me is equal parts meditational fever dream and end-of-night comedown.
